The Velocity Vector describes an object's 3D location in the simulation. This vector has three components, representing the object's speed in the x, y, and z directions relative to the reference object indicated by the Relative to property.

Property Details[ | ]

Location[ | ]

The Velocity Vector property can be found by expanding the Speed property near the top of the Motion tab of the object's properties panel. For Galaxy objects, the Speed property is located in the Properties section of the Galaxy tab, and the Velocity Vector refers specifically to the Black Hole's Velocity Vector. For Galaxy Nebula objects, the Speed property is located in the Motion section of the Nebula tab.

Units[ | ]

Each component of the Velocity Vector can be viewed and edited using the following units:

  • The Speed of Light (lightspeed) = 2.99792458×108 m/s
  • Kilometers per Second (km/s) = 1000 m/s
  • Meters per Second (m/s) is the SI unit for speed
  • Kilometers per Hour (km/h) = 0.2778 m/s
