The Name of an object is a text label distinguishing the object from other objects in the simulation.

The Name of an object appears at the top of the property panel for that object, as well as anywhere that the object is referenced in other objects' properties (for example, as an Orbital Parent). The Name also appears onscreen as a label for the object.
The only place where the Name is editable is in the Overview tab, where it is the first property listed. For Galaxy objects, the editable Name property is located at the top of the Properties section in the Galaxy tab, and for Galaxy Nebula objects, the editable Name property is located at the top of the Nebula tab. For Supernova Cloud objects, the editable Name property is located at the top of the Properties section in the Nova tab.
