The Heating Rate represents the estimated rate at which the object's [[Average Temperature]] or [[Surface Temperature]] is changing, based on the total flow of energy into and out of the object. The Heating Rate is a '''read-only''' property that is continually calculated by Universe Sandbox using :<math>R_{heat} = (P_{abs} - P_{rad}) / C. </math> where ''P<sub>abs</sub>'' is the [[Energy Absorption Rate]], ''P<sub>rad</sub>'' is the [[Energy Radiation Rate]], and ''C'' is the [[Surface Heat Capacity]]. ==Property Details== ===Location=== For [[Planetary Body]] objects, the Heating Rate property can be found in the Energy Flow section of the [[Surface Tab|Surface]] tab.
