The Escape Velocity of an object is the speed that a second object would need to have in order to overcome gravity to escape the surface of the first object. An object with a mass of M and a radius of R in a simulation with gravitational constant G will have an escape velocity of

Location[edit | edit source]

The Escape Velocity property of an object is located in the Cumulative Properties section of the Composition tab of the object's properties panel.

Units[edit | edit source]

Escape Velocity can be viewed using the following properties:

  • The Speed of Light (lightspeed) = 2.99792458×108 m/s
  • Kilometers per Second (km/s) = 1000 m/s
  • Meters per Second (m/s) is the SI unit for speed
  • Kilometers per Hour (km/h) = 0.2778 m/s
